Ken Katagiri (片桐 健 "Katagiri Ken") is the estranged father of Kanata Rivington.
Biography[]
Ken is missing at the start of the story and the only clue is a photograph of him and his wife taken in Kamakura.
He had studied sculpture at the same art school as Katherine and Mayuko, married Katherine and had Kanata, but disappeared before his son could remember and worked as a Buddhist priest in Japan. When Kanata arrived in Japan, he was in the final stages of his illness, which was caused by pancreatic cancer. He was rushed to the Gunma University Hospital to be operated on by Ryosuke, but he was already beyond help and fell into a coma during the third round of the MFG and passed away shortly afterwards.

Trivia[]
- At the age of 19, his son, Kanata, travelled to Japan to compete in MFG, using his father's surname over his mother's in an attempt to catch his attention.
- The temple from the photo is the Daigyoji Temple located near the Kamakura railroad station[1]. This is revealed in Chapter 213.
