Kanata vs. Ohtani (カナタ vs. 大谷 "Kanata vs. Ōtani") is the sixty-sixth chapter of MF Ghost.
Summary[]
As Kanata continues his run through the Slip Trap, Tanaka is shocked that Kanata is not drifting crazily like he was in the qualifiers, which allowed him to set a new record in the Death Zone. Ikeda on the other hand notes that since the race has only started, Kanata is at ease.
The drivers then exit the Ashinoko GT's Slip Trap and head down the Kojiri Pass, with Tanaka noting that a single mistake downhill can spell disaster. At the 9-11th place group, Yosuke Ohtani is having difficulties driving his AMG GT R, as the Traction and Stability Controls are constantly kicking in at every turn, allowing Kanata to catch up to him. Ohtani though notes that he will pull away from the 86 once he tightens up his lines on the corner entry. However, Kanata then makes a move on the outside of the AMG, shocking Yanagida and Ohtani. As they move onto the next corner, Ohtani starts having troubles trying to grip the road, allowing Kanata to pass him on the inside. Yanagida and Ohtani are shocked at how fast Kanata is going on the wet road, and Tanaka is also shocked at Kanata's fast pacing, understanding what Ikeda was saying.
At the MFG Angel paddock, Marie Sawamura changes the board around, and is giving the question of what type of guys does she like. Marie answers that she likes someone who doesn't tell lies, and she's been deceived all her life. During this, Tanaka notes that whilst most MFG Angels this year have slender bodies, Marie's more on the chubbier side of things. As it turns out, the preferences reflect that of the Angel's general manager, Fumihiro Joyu, with Ikeda being surprised about it. Fumihiro then gets mad at Tanaka, noting that he'll be giving him a firm reprimand, and at the same time, he hopes that Ikeda doesn't get invited back as a co-host for the races.
Back at the race, both Beckenbauer and Sawatari enter Sector 2 neck-and-neck, with Ishigami 6 seconds behind. Alongside Ishigami is Akaba, Maezono and Daigo completing the 3rd-6th place group, with Ikeda being surprised on how steady Maezono's NSX is on the course. Further behind them is the 7th-9th place group, consisting on Sakamoto, Taylor and Kanata, Ikeda notes on how smoothly the 86 is on the track as well, especially due to the car being tuned by Okuyama. Next up is the 10th-12th place group, consisting on Ohtani, Yanagida and Aiba.
