Qualified (クオリフアイ "Kuorifuai") is the fifty-ninth chapter of MF Ghost.
Summary[]
During Kanata's run of the Ashinoko GT course, Tanaka wonders if Kanata's focus flag is lasting longer than Sawatari's when he was on his way to break the course Record. Ren asks her dad if the "Focus Flag" is something that the computer assigns if you are driving good, with her dad saying that is correct. Ren then says that it does make sense, since Kanata is currently driving in 7th, but is doing better than the driver in 1st. Mr. Saionji then says that the flag evaluates the drivers technique, meaning that it won't match with the driver's time, and says that you need both skill and a good vehicle to be competitive, and Ren then says that she feels even worse for Kanata as Ogata decided not to give him a better car.
The 86 makes it down the Relay Straight and begins climbing up the hill at the end of the course. Aiba then says that it's the longest hill climb on the course, and Ogata notes that it's even worse due to it being right before the finish, and says that he'll be in major problems if he's stuck in traffic near the end of the race. As the 86 climbs up the hill, but it drops down a position, as Kanata's cornering speeds can't match up with the intense evelation. Ogata then tells Kanata to stay in 8th as he finishes his run.
After Kanata's run is over, Ogata congratulates Kanata for his performance. Aiba then tells Kanata how did he learn to drift, with Kanata answering that back in RDRS, his teacher was amazing at drifting, almost sub-human. Aiba then wonders if racing schools in the UK also teaches drifting, with Kanata saying that it's not part of the standard curriculum, and that his drifting lessons were done on off-days on rally courses, especially onces with low-"Mu". He also said that his teacher drove with cars with a soft suspension so Kanata could learn weight-transfer techniques, and said that he'd often sit in the passenger seat and would be given advice.
