The Tragic Rallyist (悲運のラリースト "Hiun no rarīsuto") is the twenty-fifth chapter of MF Ghost.
Summary[]
Tanaka continues on with his lecture on Kanata's background, and reveals that his mentor was none other than the "Tragic Rallyist", Takumi Fujiwara. Kai instantly gets surprised on the discovery, as Tanaka explains Takumi's rally career. When he was 20, Takumi traveled overseas to race in the British Rally Championship, and although Gravel was a hindrance to him, he was unstoppable on tarmac, thus managing to achieve the championship in his third season, thus earning him the nickname, the "Flying Man from Japan". Takumi even participated in a few WRC events, and signed onto the Toyota team in his fourth year, but a mechanical problem with the driveshaft caused him to get severe injuries, thus forcing him into retirement. Tanaka then questions why someone like Takumi would be a teacher at a racing school, with Kai answering that both rally and formula cars need to have there drivers control there centre of gravity. Kai also explains that he use to race against Takumi before, and became good friends.
Back at the Odawara Pikes Peak, the leading pack of Ishigami and Beckenbauer exit the Death Zone and go around the Ōhiradai hairpin. Ishigami explains that the one key advantage that a Rear-Engined layout has over a Mid-Engined layout is braking, as due to the engine being the heaviest part of the car, if you put it closest to the rear of the car, you can make better use of your tire's rear grip, even during braking. Beckenbauer however feels disapointent in Ishigami's driving, as he feels like Ishigami's skills is not on a professional level, and explains that the reason he finds MFG to be boring is that people like Ishigami can reign as a champion for two straight years. The Cayman then makes a move on the outside of the 911 GT3 on the entrance of the next corner.
