Beyond Comprehension (理解不能 "Rikai funō") is the twenty-third chapter of MF Ghost.

Summary[]

Kanata and Maezono begin there battle on Sector 3 of the Odawara Pikes Peak race. Maezono is shocked that Kanata's ability to corner lightning fast, especially since they're both in two-wheel-drive cars. He tries to catch up due to the added Turbocharger that his Civic has, as the FK8 is known for holding the record of the fastest Front-Wheel-Drive car on the Nordschleife. Kanata is able to outpace the Civic with the 86 due to his cornering ability, with Maezono being shocked for life.

Further up ahead, problems struck the BMW M3 driven by Shintaro Natsume, as the left-rear fender became damaged and is thus scraping the tire. Shintaro blames the mistake on himself, as he was too busy trying to catch up to the Ferrari and Lamborghini in-front of him. The MFG staff instruct Shintaro to pull over to an escape lane a few meters ahead, with Kakeru and Nozomi driving right past him, Kakeru is at awe due to them both getting a bigger paycheck with no extra work. Nozomi then alerts Kakeru that the 86 is advancing on them, and asks if they should try to do a block formation, Kakeru denies it as it'll only be a hindrance to them.

At the MFG Angel board, Mami is asked to change the board. Kyoko approaches Ren, telling her that Mami doesn't straighten her clothes when standing up, often being called "Butt Bongo Mami" because of it. Mami then gets interviewed, asking who is her favourite driver is, with her answering that her favourite driver is Kanata, which shocks Ren. Mami then explains that Kanata looks more like a fashion model than a racer, which puts Ren into a frenzy.

Notes & Trivia[]

  • Kazuhiro Maezono's mention of the FK8 holding the record of the fastest Front-Wheel-Drive car on the Nordschleife was not adapted into the anime. This was likely due to the fact that when the anime was airing, the record was beaten by the newer FL5 Civic Type R.
  • Shintaro Natsume's lines from the manga weren't adapted into the anime.
  • In the manga, Mami Sato changes the position score board after Shintaro retires out of the race. Whilst in the anime, she changes the position score board after Kanata overtakes Kakeru Yashio.
