Signal Blue (シグナルブルー Shigunaruburū) is the eighteenth chapter of MF Ghost.

Summary[]

As the final race for the 1st round begins, the 15 MFG racers arrive in a bus one by one. As the bus arrives, Ishigami who qualified in 1st place is named as the "polesitter" by MFG's commentator Yoji Tanaka. Next up is Yudai Sakamoto who is said to be doing well in MFG and is also mentioned to be in "incognito mode" due to the fact he wears a hoodie and glasses to hide his facial expressions. We also see Shun Aiba, Kanata Katagiri, and the Yashi-Kita arrive from the bus. During the same moment, Tanaka names Aiba as "Kamikaze Outlaw" whereas Kanata is mentioned about the female fans wavering for his handsome looks, which annoys Ren.

While Kanata thanks Aiba about the delicious "shirokoro" he got last time from him, they overhear Daigo Oishi complaining to his managers about getting a Lamborghini Aventador instead of a Huracan Performante, which Aiba finds very spoilt asking for such an expensive car and also believes the problem is in his driving skills and not the car's power. After Kanata leaves and and tells Aiba "good luck", Aiba notices how Kanata doesn't show any sign of worry as the race nears, like he's battle hardened already, yet still a likeable guy.

As the 15 cars slowly drive towards the starting position, Aiba motivates himself to get to the top 3 position so he can choose his preferred Angel to kiss him on his cheek, which is Angel 7. During the same moment, Aiba who has been racing in MFG for 4 years believes he has never felt such motivation before.

Tanaka comments on how the drones flying in front of each cars will indicate when to start off the rafce if they show a blue light. Any jumpstart will be penalized with an extra 15 seconds, guaranteeing a near last position. Soon all cars passes the gate and the drones shows off blue lights, starting off the race. The race is viewed world-wide everywhere with people cheering for this show. Aiba takes off almost immediately and overtakes Yosuke Ohtani in his Mercedes AMG GT S. As Aiba performs a successful overtake, MFG Commentator Yoji Tanaka explains that nobody in MFG is able to excite the audience as much as Aiba, and also explains that despite his popularity, he has unlucky in terms of finding love. Kai mentions about Ohtani's AMG GTS being rear wheel drive, resulting in him warming up the rear tires before he can make a move. They then shift their attention to the first 2 positions, especially on Michael Beckenbauer who despite having a slightly lower powered car is keeping the pace steadily.
