Eighty-Sixed (泣さっ面にハチ "Sammen ni hachi") is the fourteenth chapter of MF Ghost.
Summary[]
The 86 continues down the final straight of the Odawara Pikes Peak, with the gap between it and the car in 16th shrinking to 0.03 seconds. Shun is stressed out on which way it'll go down, as he notes that Kanata would be in trouble if the car behind him has more power, but considering he made it that high-up the rankings, it would most certainly be powerful. The 86 then crosses the finish line in 16th, losing out on the chance to race by 0.019 seconds. Ogata then gets worried of the placement, but Shun calms him down saying that none of it was his fault, and also notes that Kanata owned a lot of points.
Back at the Parking Lot, Ogata apologises to Kanata, however Kanata shrugs it off, as Ogata's a great mechanic, and the 86 is perfect for him. Ogata then asks if Kanata can hug him, in-which he turns down. Shun then offers a post-race consolation meetup at a restaurant around 6pm, but just before they leave, Angel No.7 arrives at the parking lot, which shocks Shun, who thinks that she came to see her. However, No.7 walks right past Shun and slaps Kanata across the face out of anger, something that shocks both Ogata and Shun, she then runs off afterwards. Shun then questions if Kanata knows No.7, in-which Kanata explains that in his 6 days of being in Japan, he's only spoken to his host family, Ogata, Shun and the lady from the nearby convenience store, meaning he never met any of the MFG Angels beforehand. Shun then accuses Kanata of doing something to her, such as grabbing her butt before his run, which Kanata instantly disproves.
Back at Fujisawa, Ren arrives home and Mayuko says that dinner's almost ready. Ren then asks where Kanata is at, which Mayuko explains that he went out with his friends to a restaurant.
