The Kamaboko Straight (カマボコストレート "Kamaboko sutorēto") is the thirteenth chapter of MF Ghost.
Summary[]
The 86 continues down the third sector of the Odawara Pikes Peak, with it managing to make it up to 15th. Ogata is confused on what to say next to Kanata, however Shun instructs that both of them keep silent on the radio, otherwise they'll mess-up Kanata's concentration. Shun then explains that the downhill stretch has been covering the 86's lack of power, but the massive straightaway will cause the cars that he passed on the leaderboard to catch back up.
The 86 passes by the Hakone-Yumoto rail station, with Tanaka explaining the Kamaboko Straight, a 1.9km long straightaway that even outclasses the front-stretch of the Fuji Speedway. Just before the 86 enters the straight, it manages to gain up to 14th. The 86 then begins to go full-throttle down the straight, with the drone starting to lag behind at 180km/h, due to this, the live feed switches to the 5 fixed cameras along the straight. Kanata pushes the 86 to its limits, but the car's acceleration begins to plateau, as he goes down 1 place on the rankings. Ogata then gets nervous due to his 86's lack of power.
The 86 begins to struggle at 230km/h, compared to most of the Divine Fifteen cars being able to reach up to 300km/h on the stretch. Kanata then dives straight into the Higashi-Kazamatsuri corner, and makes it through despite the being a little off-balance. The 86 begins to go flat-out on the final section of the course, but Shun notes the the car in 16th is only 0.3 seconds behind him. Shun hopes that Kanata will be able to give it all he's got.
