The Shocking New MFG Generation (衝撃のMFG新世代 "Shōgeki no MFG shin sedai") is the eighth chapter of MF Ghost.
Summary[]
Shun Aiba is shocked to see Kanata Katagiri achieve such as feat on Sector 1, as Shun speculates that around 200 cars in MFG have more horsepower than Kanata's 86. Ogata then questions that Kanata is able to corner faster than the other drivers, which Shun brushes off. The 86 soon enters Sector 2 of the Odawara Pikes Peak corse, in-which Ogata instructs Kanata to change the brake balance of the 86. Kanata then says that he's going to gradually step up the pace as he's getting use to driving the 86. Shun then questions to Ogata if he knows Kanata's history, in-which Ogata replies that all he knows is that he graduated from a prestigious Britsh racing school.
As the 86 continues down the course, Kanata thanks Ogata for the car's excellent balance of the underbody, and says that he'll be able to reach his goal with it. The 86 easily climbs up into 48th, which shocks Fumihiro, who instantly calls Ryosuke, who's about to do a complex surgery. Fumihiro then explains to Ryosuke that Takumi Fujiwara's student is right now qualifying for MFG, but is registered under the name of "Katagiri". Ryosuke then tells Fumihiro that he needs to keep a close eye on Kanata, as he's got potential to usher in a new generation of MFG. After they hung up, Fumihiro realises that Ryosuke never told him about Kanata being able to "correctly interpret his regulations".
Back at the course, the 86 has risen to 45th place, with the main feed being glued to the car for a while now. However, as the course switches back uphill, the 86 drops down one spot, as the engine isn't that powerful to deal with the immense incline. Once the 86 enters Sector 3, Kanata instructs that he's going to speed up now, in-which Shun instantly gets flustered at, as he says that Kanata will die in that sector if he isn't careful.
